John Wesley Crane was born to John Norval Crane II & Susan Abigail Fults Crane in Indian Creek, Monroe County, Indiana August 9, 1872. He met Bertha Estella Middleton shortly after moving to Madrid, Perkins County, Nebraska in 1895. His parents & siblings moved to Nebraska about that time, so I suppose that is when they met & married shortly after on 10 Jan 1895. Their first born child was born in Madrid, 10 months after their marriage. John came from a large family of 17 siblings, so having 12 children was a rather common idea. He & Bertha did not stay in Madrid long, their first set of twins were born in San Dimas, Los Angeles County, California April 14, 1897. Eight more children were born to them in San Dimas, the last three would be born in Oakdale, Stanislaus County, California. Twins ran in the family, they had two sets of twins among the 12. Farming was in his blood, so fruit farming was one type he tried along with general farming. After Oakdale, they moved to Riverbank. The Crane home still stands today in Riverbank, many family parties happened on or in this farm house, I believe there is a road named after the family right by the old home.
