Herman G. Suther, 87, Seneca, died shortly after arrival at the Seneca Hospital on Thursday, December 16, 1993. He had an apparent heart attack.

Mr. Suther was a carpenter and had learned his trade in Germany. He came to the United States in 1924; sponsored by Wes Tilley, and worked in Frankfort a year. He later worked for Frank Stuke east of Seneca. He and his wife farmed in the Frankfort and Baileyville area, moved to a farm near Oneida in 1931; to a farm in the Ford community southeast of Seneca in 1934 and to a farm north of Wetmore in 1948. They moved to Centralia in 1954 where he was a carpenter; to Seneca in 1959, then retired from carpentry in 1972.

He was born October 20, 1906, at Bahlen, Germany, the son of Herman and Wilhelmina Weinholt Suther, and attended German schools.

Mr. Suther was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca.

He was married to Alvina C. Lierz on February 6, 1929, in Sts. Peter and Paul Church. She died May 24, 1985.

Survivors include three daughters, Rosella Honeyman, Seneca, Pat Hasenkamp, ircleville, and Anna Mae Mac Stotler, Del City, Okla.; three sons, Melvin Suther, Frankfort, Cletus Suther, New Carlisle, Ohio, and Elmer Suther, Seneca; 35 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 18, in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Burial was in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery at Seneca.
