Clay County Progress (Clay Center, NE), Friday, February 23, 1894; pg. 3
Mrs. F. Frei of Marshal (sic) township, died last evening, of pneumonia. The deceased was sick only a short time. She attended church on last Sunday morning and evening. During the night she arose to tend to some house plants, when she took a chill and was taken sick and died last evening. The funeral services will be held Sunday at 11 o'clock in the German church east of Clay Center.

The funeral services of Mrs. F. Frei were held last Sunday in the Evang. church 5 miles east of town. Rev. F.H. Doescher preached in the English language. Mrs. Frei was a loving wife, a good mother and a faithful Christian. Our loss is her eternal gain.
The funeral was on of the largest known in Clay County, there being about 80 teams. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of the entire community.
