Obituary - Paul Puetz
Funeral services for Paul Puetz of Watopa, 69, were held at Immaculate Conception church at Conception at 10 am, Monday. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Puetz was the father of Luverne Puetz of Wabasha and a brother of Mrs. Herman Luethe of this city. He died in a Rochester hospital Friday morning of pneumonia. Surviving are nine children, Joseph and Paul of Kellogg, Mrs. Joseph Kruger of Conception, Mrs. Charles Boyd of Detroit, Mich., Theresa of Plainview, Henry and Raymond of Elgin, Luverne of Wabasha and Francis of North Dakota and three sisters, Mrs. Luethe of Wabasha, Mrs Margaret Shebat of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Nick Nepper Of Winona. Mrs. Puetz died in 1928. One child died in infancy and a sons died 1927. Mr. Puetz was born on a farm in Watopa and lived there all of his life with the exception of the last several years when his health failed. His marriage to Miss Margaret Lehnertz was solemnized in 1898.

Paul Puetz Dies in Rochester
Pneumonia Takes Life of Watopa Man; Resident for 69 years
Paul Puetz, a lifelong resident of Watopa township, died of pneumonia at a Rochester hospital Friday, Feb. 21. He was 69 years old, having been born on the farm purchased by his parents from the government in 1864. The date of his birth was August 8, 1871. His parents had come from Germany in the early fifties, first settling in Iowa and then coming to Watopa township.
Mr. Puetz father died when he was three years old and as he grew up he assisted his mother in the operation of the farm. He took over the operation of the farm in 1893 and rented it for four years. Then he purchased the 240 acre farm which has since been his home.
He erected most of the buildings on this farm carrying on a general improvement program.
On November 22, 1898, Mr. Puetz married Margaret Lehnertz. Twelve children were born to them. Mrs. Puetz died in 1928. One son died in infancy, a son Walter, died at the age of 13, and a daughter, Loretta died at the age of 12. The surviving children are Joseph and Paul of Kellogg, Mrs. Joseph Kruger of Conception; Mrs. Charles Boyd of Detroit, Mich.; Theresa of Plainview, Henry and Raymond of Elgin; Luverne of Wabasha; and Francis of North Dakota. He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Herman Leuthe, Wabasha; Mrs. Margaret Shebat, Minneapolis and Mrs. Nick Nepper, Winona.
Mr. Puetz was affiliated with the Modern Brotherhood of America and the Knights of Columbus. He served as a member of the school board of District 81 for 25 years.
Funeral services were conducted at Immaculate Conception church at Conception Monday morning and burial was made in the church cemetery.
