Shirley Joyce Davis

Shirley Joyce Davis died Nov. 12 at her home in Wilbur. She was born Oct. 19, 1936, and was a graduate of Wilbur High School, Class of 1954.
She is survived by three daughters, Cathryn Gialey of Fall City, Christine Zachere of Spokane and Colleen Johnson, East Wenatchee; one grandson, Gasey Zacherle of Spokane; a brother, David Angstrom of Spokane; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doxie Mattox Davis, and her parents, Robert and Bertha Angstrom.
Shirley was a member of the Wilbur Lutheran Church where she had been a Sunday School teacher, a recognized memeber of the Inland Empire Girl Scout Council and a 25 year leader, a member of the Big Bend Golf and County Club, and the Contract Bridge Association. She was working to become a Master Bridge player, and also enjoyed crossword puzzles and stained glass work. While her daughters were growing up she served as a room mother at school.
Funeral services for Mrs. Davis were held Wednesday morning, Nov. 15, at the Wilbur Lutheran Church with Pastor Mike Nelson and Pastor Dan Grether officiating. The congregation sang "My Faith Looks up to Thee." "Rock of Ages" was sung by Lisa Vaughn, and Martha Sassman was the organist. Pallbearers were Jim Bonner, Jay Bender, Mike Buergel, Doug Zacherle, Fred Hyde and George Kunz. Interment was in the Wilbur Cemetery.

Shirley and Doxie were married on May 3, 1981 at Wilbur Washington.
