CASCADE, Iowa -- Clara R. "Rita" Wagner, 82, of Cascade, Iowa, formerly of Fillmore and Dubuque, died at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fillmore, with the Rev. Daniel Krapfl officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fillmore. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m.
She was born on Jan. 27, 1927, in Bernard, Iowa, daughter of Nicholas and Clara (Peiffer) Rollinger. She was a graduate of the former St. Martin's High School. Cascade. She married John P. Wagner on June 5, 1946, at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Cascade.
Rita was a true homemaker and an excellent cook. She enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting and quilting.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Fillmore, and also served as a volunteer at the Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Gardens.
Surviving are her husband, John P. Wagner, of Cascade; six children, John "Jack" (Beth) Wagner Jr., of Woodstock, Ill., Jayne (Jim) Bettis, of Peosta, Karen Wagner, of Takoma Park, Md., Jeff (Mary Kay) Wagner, of Cascade, Sue (Ron) Tigges, of Dubuque, and Steve Wagner; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Staner, Monica (Nick) Hosch and Helen (Pat) Moran, all of Cascade; two sisters-in-law, Mary Catherine Rollinger, of Dubuque, and Shirley Rollinger, of Dodgeville, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Clarence, Raphael, Eldred and Earl Rollinger; and two sisters, Geraldine Kerper and Bernice Smith.
