A memorial service will be held Nov. 10 for Ida M. Simon of Olympia, formerly of Junction City, who died Nov. 3 of age-related causes. She was 91.

Simon was born Nov. 30, 1909, in Junction City to Herman and Jenny Erickson Markusen. She married John Simon in Junction city on July 14, 1936. He died May 16, 1973.

She graduated from high school in Junction City. She received a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from the University of Oregon, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa sorority. She taught at Crow High School and Junction City High School as well as in Hood River and Ashland.

Her interests included language, mountain climbing, hiking, church work and volunteering. Simon was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Olympia and of various civic and professional groups.

Survivors include a daughter, Helen Pegg of Olympia; three sons, John of Whittier, Calif., William of Mount Vernon, Wash., and Thomas of Altadena, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A son, Richard, died previously.

Saturday's service will be at 1 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Danish Cemetery in Junction City. American Memorial Funeral Directors in Olympia is in charge of arrangements.
