Clyde Willard Newcomb
Clyde Willard Newcomb of Vinita, OK died Monday October 12, 2009 at Craig General Hospital in Vinita, OK. He was 86.
Mr. Newcomb was born September 16, 1923 in Irondale, MO to Elmer and Bessie (Lawson) Newcomb.
He moved to the Picher area in 1968 from Southern California.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Mr. Newcomb worked in the lead and zinc mines in the Picher area and for U.S. Borex in Boron, Calif.
He was a member of the Cardin Baptist Church in Cardin, OK and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Howard Newcomb and Blondie Newcomb.
He married Alta Jean Shepherd on November 14, 1983. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: 1 Step–son Kevin Lewallen of Vinita, OK; 1 Brother Richard Patterson of Narcissia, OK; 2 Grandchildren
Graveside services will be Friday October 16, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Greenlawn Cemetery N.W. of Treece, KS.
Rev. Jerry VonMoss will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Lewallen, Derrick Lewallen, Mitchell Ichhorn, Caleb Ichhorn and Jackson Ichhorn.
Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 140 Funeral Detail.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Services are under the direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami, OK.
