Robert Kloos Lootens, 96, of Wytheville died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009. Funeral service will be held Sunday, Oct. 11, at 6 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church with the Revs. Joe Mack Taylor and Paula Dell Campbell officiating. A graveside service will be held Monday, Oct. 12, at 10 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery. He was a retired mechanical engineer with the U.S. Civil Service. He moved to Wytheville in 1995. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and the Fredericksburg Emmaus Community. He was active in the Highlands Emmaus Community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Joseph & Jessie Mabel Kloos Lootens. Survivors include his wife, Albirta Snow Lootens of Wytheville; four daughters & sons-in-law, Margaret Anne Lootens of Marion, Barbara Jean & George Rouff of Yuma, AZ, Ginny Lee Martell of Rural Retreat, Elizabeth Joan Lootens & Devon Randall of Denver, CO; two sons, John Robert Lootens of Richmond and Frank William Lootens of Baltimore, MD; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday, Oct. 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. (service time) at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.
