Son of Arthur Adams and Ada Kate Adams née Marshall, of Ice House, Manor Rd., Lydd. Baptised 14 Feb 1900 in Hythe St Leonards Church. Killed in the Zeebrugge Raid of 23 April 1918, when the Royal Navy attempted to block the port of Bruges-Zeebrugge. The plan was for HMS Vindictive to land 200 sailors and a battalion of Royal Marines. The marines came under massed fire by German gunners and suffered heavy casualties. The body of Roy Manfred Adams was taken back Dover on HMS Zeebrugge, then to his parents' house at Lydd. He was given a military funeral.
