Nancy was the daughter of John Calhoun and Rebecca (Payne) Calhoun.

She was first married to Andrew Jackson Dorsey on 15 May 1849 in Pickens County, SC. Performed by: W.S. Grisham, Esquire. Published in the Keowee Courier, 25 May 1849, Page 3, Column C.

Five children would be born to this union: William Andrew, Mary M, John Hampton, Martha Josephine, and Margaret "Maggie" Dorsey.

This marriage would end in divorce, prior to the 1870 census.

Nancy would later marry again on 13 Oct 1891, at age 58. She married William Burton A. Crisp, age 68, in Stecoah Township, Graham County, NC. Performed by: R.M. Aldridge, Baptist Minister. J.M. Crisp, Harrison Crisp and D.W. Crisp, witnesses.

No children would be born to this union.

After their marriage, William and Nancy would remove to Blount County, TN where she would die in March 1896.

She was 63-years of age.
