She was born in Chemnitz, Germany on March 28, 1915 to Emil Hans Flade and Hulda Paula Musch Flade.
She married Karl A. Groebs in Chemnitz in 1934, and together they had one son, Reiner Karl Groebs. They later divorced and she emigrated to the United States in 1956. She was very proud to become a U.S. Citizen.
In December of 1977, Susie married Helmut Staufenbeil and together served three missions to Germany for the L.D.S. Church. He preceded her in death on July 2, 2009.
Susie had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She was an accomplished pianist and took great pleasure in sharing her talent both in Germany and the United States.
She is survived by her son, Reiner K. Groebs, his wife, Rosemarie Goeckeritz Groebs, grandchildren; Heidi L. Groebs, Allen (Allison) Groebs, Kerry (Natalie) Groebs, six great-grandchildren. Also survived by her brother, John L. Flade (Alice), and step-children, Klaus Dieter Staufenbeil and Brigitte S. Varela.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the German Speaking Ward Chapel in the Douglas Ward Building, 721 South 1200 East, where a viewing will be held from 9:45-10:45 prior to the services.
Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
