Valeria M. Ryan, 91, Rochester, dies

Valeria M. Ryan, 91, of 216 14th Ave. SE, died of natural causes Sunday afternoon (Dec 1, 1991) at St. Mary's Hospital.

The former Valeria Cisewski was born Dec 7, 1899, in Winona, where she grew up. On June 23, 1930 she married James Ryan at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Winona. He died Sept 24, 1934.

Mrs. Ryan worked at Massey's Department Store in Rochester for more than 30 years as a seamstress before retiring. She was a member of St. Mary's Group of the Altar Society at St. Francis Catholic Church. Mr. Ryan was a plumber.

Survivors included two daughters, Eleanor Stellpflug of Rochester and Nancy Whelan of Lexington, KY; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 am Thursday at St. Francis Catholic Church in Rochester with the Rev. Robert Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm at Macken Funeral Home where a virgil prayer service is scheduled at 7 pm.
