Robert Earl Barton, 56, died Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Robert J. Dole Veterans Administration in Wichita.

He was born Dec. 25, 1952, in Archer City, Texas, to Earl and Lillie Peters Barton.

Mr. Barton married Donna Jean Hage on April 16, 2001, at Sugar City, Texas. She died Dec. 11, 2007. He married Debra Ruth James.

Mr. Barton attended school in Dumas, Texas, and Lamar, Colo. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. After his discharge, he lived in Texas, Pratt, and Colorado before moving to Dighton in 2005. He had worked for Midwest Feeders in Ingalls, the Lane County Road Department, and most recently was a truck driver for Wick Grain Co. He enjoyed fishing, mechanics, playing the guitar and riding motorcycles. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Albert; and a grandson, Dylan.

Mr. Barton is survived by three daughters, Lori Coen, Commerce City, Colo., Renee Barton, Eads, Colo., and Amy Barton, Eads; a son, John, Eads; three stepdaughters, Anita Hage, Dighton, Rebecca Rivera, Dighton, and Cindy Hage, Calihan, Colo.; two stepsons, James Hage and Chad Hage, both of Dighton; three brothers, Benny Barton, Austin, Texas, David Salazar, Milwaukee, and J.J. Salazar, Lamar; three sisters, Linda Salinas, Lamar, and Sara Santillaenz and Carman Judson, both of Denver; 14 grandchildren; and a stepfather, Luis Martinez from Lamar.

A funeral service was at the First Baptist Church in Dighton. Burial was at the Dighton Memorial Cemetery and the American Legion Post No. 190 of Dighton was in charge of graveside rites.
