William Robert Freudenberg of Joseph, died Wed., Feb. 8, 1995, at Enterprise.
He was born Feb. 14, 1903 in Stetsonville, Wisc. the third of six children born to William and Mary Ann Freudenberg. In 1906 the family moved and homesteaded east of Joseph.
On Dec. 25, 1939, he married Cora Fisher in Enterprise. She preceded him in death in 1968.
Bill and his brothers farmed and ranched in the valley east of Joseph for over fifty years. He served as president of the Farmers Ditch Co. for over thirty years. He was on the board of directors for the Assoc. Ditch Company and served on the school board for the Liberty School. He was also a member of the Grange for 72 years, joining the Liberty Grange and later joining the Hurricane Creek Grange.
Bill loved the outdoors. He loved the land and all kinds of animals. He will be remembered to his good humor, kindness, and gentle spirit.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jerry Hook of Joseph; grandchildren, Rayn Hook of Ft. Riley, Kansas, Kyle Hook, ShanRae Hook of Joseph, and Kimberly Hook of Lostine, and sister, Emma Jean Wardell on Monta Vista, Calif.
Besides his wife, Cora, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Ellen, brothers, Fred, Harry, and Ed, sister, Francis and his parents.
Graveside services were held Sat., Feb. 11, at the Enterprise cemetery. Memorials may be made to the 4-H programs in the care of the Bollman Funeral Home, 315 W. Main, Enterprise, OR 97828.
