Irene Ona Wood, 79, the daughter of Edwin and Margaret (Indorf) Wilton, was born June 16, 1927, on a farm near Abdal. She died Thursday at the Good Samaritan Center, Superior.
One of five children, she grew up on a farm near Abdal and attended Glenville Country School. She married Eugene Wood on Aug 28, 1945, in Belleville. This union was blessed with three children.
Irene lived her entire life in the Superior area. She was employed at the Victory Cafe, Armours, Leprino Cheese Company and Mid-America Dairy. She was a member of the Valley View Club.
Preceding her in death were her parents, one son, Arnold, and two brothers, LeRoy and Clarence.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene, a son Chadron, Superior, and a daughter, Mrs Richard Barry, (Lindel), Webber, eight grandchildren, Michelle, Amber, Aaron, Jessica and Sara Wood, and Shel, Scott and Shawn Barry, and four great-grandchildren, Lane, Taylor, Jacob and Garrett Barry, and two brothers, Melvin, Enid, Okla and Merle, Fair Oaks, Calif.
Services were held Monday from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior with Pastor David Johnson officiating.
Pallbearers were Gene Frerichs, Frank Langer, Ron Frasier, Keith McKeown, Kenneth Schuster and Herb Alley.
Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery.
