The son of Friederich Albers and Wilhelmine Kolkmann, Fred (aka Fritz) spent his early childhood in Germany.

Fred's father, Friederich, left home and headed for America, arriving there in May of 1882. More than a year and 5 months passed before Fred, his mother and siblings could join him in the United States. They traveled on board the ship America, which departed from Bremen, Germany, and arrived in Baltimore, Maryland on 10 Oct 1883.

Fred was confirmed as "Heinrich Friedrich Wilhelm" on 30 Mar 1890 at Salem Lutheran Church in Black Jack, St. Louis County, Missouri.

Fred married Carrie Kamp on 28 Dec 1905 at Salem Lutheran Church in Black jack. He was a farmer, and they were the parents of 6 children. Their youngest son, Richard, died while in the service during World War II.

Fred suffered a heart attack on 29 Feb 1960. He died 3 days later from a pulmonary edema and heart failure. At the time of his death, he was 83 years, 8 months and 3 days old.

Fred was buried on 07 Mar 1960 and was survived by his wife, Carrie, who passed away in 1975.
