Louis G. Volk, 77, of Claremont, died at 2:38 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2009, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stringtown. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Stringtown.

Mr. Volk was born January 31, 1932, the son of Anton Volk and Catherine Kuenstler Volk. He married Lelia Ginder November 22, 1956. She survives.

He was a farmer and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stringtown. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and Richland County Farm Bureau. He was a veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Volk is survived by his wife, Lelia Ginder; daughter, Joan Sager and her husband, Carl, of Claremont; daughter, Susan Spencer and her husband, Ernie, of Champaign; son, Alphon Volk and his wife, Lexi, of Charleston; son, Mark Volk and his wife, Rebekah, of Teutopolis; daughter, Louise Weber and her husband, Jerry, of Teutopolis; daughter, Lisa Boehl and her husband, Harold, of Claremont; daughter, Connie Roper and her husband, Kevin, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; son, Vincent Volk and his wife, Pauline, of Olney; daughter, Amy Seed and her husband, John, of Lawrenceville; daughter, Maria Rudolphi and her husband, Mark, of Olney; daughter, Ann Rudolphi and her husband, Wayne, of Olney; son, Andrew Volk and his wife, Krystal, of Sumner; brother, Anton Volk and his wife, Dorothy, of Washington, Ill.; brother, Don Volk and his wife, Arlene, of Ingraham; sister, Ethel Zwilling and her husband, Herman, of Claremont; sisters, Sister Antoinette Volk and Sister Loretta Volk, both of Donaldson, Ind.; and 50 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Catherine Volk, and his brother, Virgil Volk (Korea).
