The daughter of John Hagen and Caroline Nesterbrock, Augusta married Herman Christian Kummer on 10 May 1881 in St. Louis, Missouri. Herman worked as a farmer in St. Louis County, and later as a carpenter.

They were the parents of 10 children. Augusta gave birth to her youngest son on 07 Apr 1908 when she was 47-years-old. She died 2 1/2 months later.

At the time of her death, Augusta was 47 years, 9 months and 28 days old.

She was survived by her husband, Herman; 3 daughters, Rosa Behle, Augusta Kummer and Addie Kummer; and 6 sons, Theodore Kummer, Louis Kummer, Oliver Kummer, Paul Kummer, Edwin Kummer and baby Harold Kummer.

After Augusta's death, Herman married Caroline Harbke. He died in 1942.

KUMMER--At 4:15 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 1908, Augusta Kummer (nee Hagen), beloved wife of Herman Kummer and dear mother of Mrs. Rose Dehle [sic], Augusta, Theodore, Louis, Ada, Oliver, Paul, Edwin and Herold Kummer, aged 47 years.

Funeral Thursday, June 25, at 2 p.m., from family residence, Black Jack, St. Louis County, Mo. Relatives and friends invited.
