OBITUARY GRAU

Conrad John Grau was born Jan. 16, 1887, at Stuttgart, Kans. to Henry and Elizabeth Grau. He was baptized on Jan. 30, 1887 thus becoming a member of the Kingdom of God. He confirmed the Baptism vow on April 12, 1900 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Stuttgart.

On April 19, 1911, he was united in marriage to Elsie Zillinger. Three children were born to this union, Ernest, Edna, and Lela.

Conrad lived his entire life in Phillips County where he farmed until he retired in 1957. On Nov. 3, 1960, he entered the Phillips County Home for the Aged to spend the remaining years of his life.

He departed from this life on July 31, 1966 at the age of 79 years, 6 months, and 15 days.

He is survived by his three children, Ernest Grau, Phillipsburg, Edna Reinsche, Salem, Oregon, Lela Johnston, Phillipsburg; one brother, Theodore Grau, Phillipsburg, two sisters, Elizabeth Hesterman and Katie Badenhoop, Kensington, Kans; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Elsie on Sept. 11, 1954 and his parents, brother, Henry and one sister, Margaret.

Funeral services were held in Zion Lutheran Church Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 10 o'clock. The Rev. Victor Andersen officiated.

Pallbearers were Melvin Hesterman, Ted Hesterman, Ernest Eltiste, Loren Grau, Herman Zillinger and Arnold Zillinger.

Burial was in the Belmont cemetery.
