Marie Barbara Arthur (Jester)

In Rehoboth Beach, Delaware with her daughter at her side, Marie Arthur went to join her beloved dearly departed loved ones and her final resting place with the Lord on Monday, November 23, 2009. Marie had fought a strong battle against ovarian cancer lasting less than a year.

A 1947 graduate of Wilmington High School and a former employee of the Wilmington News Journal, Marie had retired from the Dupont Co., Newport Pigments Department.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen Marie Wiedmann (Matthew) of Rehoboth Beach with whom she resided, along with her beloved black lab, "BB", and Gerrianne Barnett (Jeff) of Smyrna; her brother, retired State Police Capt. Clarke V. Jester and her cherished sister, Joan Gaynor. Her legacy includes grandchildren; Carla Hughes, (Jim) of Merchantville, NJ, Reenie Novak (Dan) of Pennsylvania, Megan Henly (Joshua) of New Hampshire, Lauren Marie Kelley of San Diego, CA, J. Ryan Kelley of Bristol CT, Casey Scott Wiedmann of Lewes, DE, Heather Marie Mitchell (Daryll) of Wilmington, DE, Holly Gouge of New Castle, DE and William Scott Gouge of New Castle, DE; her great-grandchildren, Andrew, Evan, Nathan, Adian, Bridget and Owen Hughes; Erica, Lindsey, David and Ryan Hutchinson, Amber Marie Cooper, Destiny McIntosh, Joanna Marie Henly and Mason Wiedmann. She was blessed with many loving nieces and nephews and friends who called her "mommom". She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Allen Scott Arthur in 2006 and her son, Allen Scott Arthur II in 1972. Also preceding her were her parents, Clarence and Margaret (Graham) Jester and her brother, Jack.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 28, at 12 noon, at the DOHERTY FUNERAL, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek, where friends may call from 10 am-12 noon. Burial will be in Hockessin Friends Cemetery, Old Wilmington Rd., Hockessin.
