Klaus Schipperr was born Sept 12, 1878 in the Netherlands. With his parents, he came to America at the age of six years and settled first at Pella, Iowa where he also received his elementary education. At the age of seventeen, he moved with his family to New Holland, South Dakota, and there on Feb 27, 1903 he was united in marriage to Lizzie VanDerpol. To this union, six children were born.

Mr. Schipper operated a general store in New Holland until 1911, when he brought his family to Taylors Falls, Minnesota. Since living in this community Mr. Schipper worked on the railroad section crew, was often employed as a plasterer and for the last twenty-five years or more he engaged in farming. For several years he drove the school bus on the north route when horse-drawn conveyances were still I use.

Mr. Schipper was reared in the Christian Reformed Church of his Holland parentage and had a deep reverence for spiritual values. As a God-fearing man, he fulfilled well his part as head of his household and gave his children a worthy spiritual heritage. He was preceded in death by his wife who passed away less than 3 months ago, a week after they had observed the Golden Wedding Anniversary. He passed away on May 29 at the age of 73 years, 8 months, and 17 days.

Bereaved by his passing are his four daughters: Gertrude at home, Mrs. Wilbur Dibble (Jeanette) of Taylors Falls, Mrs. Theodore (Elma) Gabrielson of Lindstrom, Mrs. Daniel (Henrietta) Baars of Minneapolis, two sons, Clarence at home and Bert of Minneapolis; also seven grandchildren and two brothers, Jacob of New Holland, South Dakota and Andrew of Austin, Texas. Friends and neighbors are saddened by his passing and unitedly express their sympathy for the family in their two-fold bereavement.
