Christina Meier, 94, of 2550 21st St., Gering, died Oct. 7, 1996, at the Northfield Villa Medical Center in Gering.
A funeral will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff with the Rev. Jay Warren officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Visitation is at Jolliffe Funeral Home today from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and at the funeral. Memorials are to the church.
She was born Sept. 20, 1902, in Norka, Russia, to Fred and Anna (Pauley) Feagler. At the age of 7, she moved with her family to Scottsbluff.
They later moved to Winnipeg, Canada for a short time before returning to Scottsbluff. She married John Eskam Feb. 14, 1918, in Scottsbluff. She later married Carl D. Meier Jan. 4, 1958, in Scottsbluff. She had been a lifetime resident of Scottsbluff. She was a member of the Church, the Brotherhood of the Church, and the Ladies Aid of the Church.
She is survived by her husband Carl D. Meier of Gering; daughters and sons-in-law Emma and Harry Bolzer of Scottsbluff and Bertha and Harold Mintle of Plant City, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law Reiny and Patty Eskam of Scottsbluff, stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law Marlyce and Marvin Ramig of McGrew, Joyce Hinman of Tallahassee, Fla., and Catherine and Jim Mangrum of Cypress, Calif.; stepson and stepdaughter-in-law Carl L. and Rachel Meier of Gering; brother Fred Feagler of Racine, Wis.; sister Hanna Smith of Racine; 23 grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; and great-great-step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, brothers Henry, John and Pete Feagler, sons Ted and John Eskam and grandson Jerry Eskam.

The village of Norka existed from Aug 1767 until Aug 1941 in the Canton of Balzer, in the province of Saratov, Russia. Norka was about 40 miles southwest of the city of Saratov on the west bank of the Volga River about 460 miles southeast of Moscow. After all of the Germans, living in the Volga region of Russia, were deported by Stalin in 1941, the name was changed. It is now called HEKPACOBO (NEKRASOVO).
