Elizabeth "Beth" L. Jackson, 88, of Sterling, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 1999 in Sterling.
A Requiem Eucharist will be held at 10:30 am. Saturday, Aug. 21, at All Saints Episco pal Church, with the Rev. Terence Keefe officiating. Inturment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Mrs. Jackson was born on May 19, 1911 to Oscar and Esther (Hoover) Linderholm in Denver. She grew up and attended high school in Monte Vista. From 1929 to 1931 she attended Colorado State Teachers College, now the University of Northern Colorado.
She taught intermediate grades and junior high school from 1931 through 1934 in Sedgwick. In 1935 she moved to Sterling and taught sixth grade at Sexson School. She attended summer sessions at CSTC and worked toward her degree. On Aug. 31, 1936 she married Robert Jackson in Monte Vista. She worked as a partner with him in Jackson & Son Mortuary until 1941. When Mr. Jackson was called to active duty in the U.S. Air Force, she went with him to Shepherd Field, Wichita Falls, Texas. While there she was home service chairman of the Wichita County chapter of the American Red Cross and the president of Officers' Wives. In 1945 they returned to Sterling and lived here since.
She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church and a 50-year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter DZ.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by a son, Robert Jackson of Denver; six grandchilden; a niece, Esther Cass of Trinidad, and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1977.
