In Memoriam.
Emily Parker Hollenbeck died at the old homestead in Hebron, Potter county, Pennsylvania, Wednesday morning, June 20, at the advanced age of eighty three years, eight months and twenty days. She was born in Virgil, Courtland county, New York, September 30, 1816 and was married to John Hollenbeck March 18, 1838. They removed to Potter county, Pennsylvania in December 1842, which was at that time a dense wilderness, the inhabitants being compelled to go to Jersey Shore, a distance of more than one hundred miles, to get their wheat and corn ground. The husband and father is still living, and in fairly good health at the age of eighty-five. His father lived to be one hundred and four years of age. Ten children survive, five of whom, John George, I.(L?) A., Amos and Florence live in Colorado; two, Conrad and Rebecca in Nebraska and Edwin, Rhoda and Etta, at or near the old homestead in Pennsylvania. The three last named were the only ones present and her death, as those in the west were too far away to be summoned on such short notice. She was a true woman in every sense of the word. Charitable to the poor and unfortunate; kind and indulgent to everybody. Her life's work was ended and she passed quietly to the beyond without a pang of regret except that she must leave her loved ones. Her memory will be cherished by her aged companion in life, and by the children as long as life shall last. Rest In Peace.
