Clarence P. Kippes, 77, of Greeley, died Sunday, July 22, 2001 at the Hospice and Palliative Care Inpatient Unit in Greeley. A service will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 27, at Adamson Memorial West Chapel, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley.
Mr. Kippes was born on June 9, 1924 to John and Mary (Lambrecht) Kippes in Sterling. He grew up and was educated in the Sterling area, where he helped with the family farm.
He entered the U.S. Army on May 1, 1945, serving in the Army of Occupation in Japan. He was honorably discharged on Aug. 22, 1946. He returned to the Sterling area, where he farmed.
On Dec. 1, 1951 he married Mary Elizabeth Gerk in Iliff. They lived in the Sterling area. They moved to Greeley in the early 1960s, where he worked for Edwards Chevrolet as an auto body mechanic. He later worked for other auto body shops in Greeley before he retired.
He enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, reading and bird watching with his wife.
Mr. Kippes is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Kippes of Greeley; two sons,Michael Kippes of Redmond, Wash., and Robert Kippes of Rifle; a daughter, Mary Jeanne Kippes of Greeley; three sisters, Mary Konrade of Boulder, Ann Schell and Rose Gerk, both of Brighton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Alex and Andrew.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado, Inc., in care of Adamson Memorial West Chapel, 200 47th Ave., Greeley, Cob., 80634.
