Michael Dale Korester, 26, of Padroni, died Thursday, June 26, 2003, near Padroni. Visitation will be Monday, June 30, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 1, at 11 a.m. at Peetz Community. United Methodist Church, with Rev. Beverly Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Peetz Cemetery. Mr. Koester was born Sept. 10, 1976, in Sterling to Vern Koester and Barbara (Quirey)Koester.
He was a life-long resident of the Peetz and Padroni areas, and graduated from Peetz High School in 1995. He then attend ed Northeastern Junior College for three years.
Mike had a strong passion for sports, and played all sports
in high scho lettering in basketball, baseball and football. He was active as a referee in basketball and served as an umpire in baseball.
He was engaged in farming with his family, and also worked at Culligan Water Conditioning Co.
Mr. Koester was a member of Peetz Community United Methodist Church, and Sterling Elks Lodge No. 1336.
He is survived by parents Vern "Slim" and Barbara Koester, of Padroni; brother Tom Koester and wife Diane, of Sterling; sisters Deb Sargent and husband Bob, of Scottsbluff, Neb., Kathy Glassburn and husband Del, of Sterling, Terry Carwin and hus band Randy, of Proctor, Karen Koester, of Padroni; grand mother Ethel Klee, of Sterling; and 11 nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Peetz Community United Methodist Church or Peetz High School athletic department.
