"Julia Studebaker (Marion) Grasshoff, Los Angeles, Calif., was buried Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery here [Kokomo, IN]. Born Oct. 3, 1929 in Detroit, Mich., she died in her Los Angeles apartment June 24 or 25, [1967]. Cause of death has not been determined."

"She was a cum laude graduate of Alabama College [later University of Montevallo] in 1942 [sic] 1952 and worked for a master's degree at the University of Southern California. She then became a speech therapist with the Updike School for mentally retarded children in Compton, California."

"In 1954 a film 'The Retarded Child,' for which she wrote the script and which she directed, was judged one of the top eight pictures that year. The award winning picture was filmed in her free time. In addition to writing the script and directing the production, she shot, cut and edited the film."

"Survivors include her mother Mrs. Mary E. Studebaker (Marion), who has been a member of the Kokomo Library staff and organized Kokomo Legal Secretaries Association, and a grandmother, Mrs. Frank Studebaker, both of Indianapolis." [Also survived by her husband Alexander Fulcher von Grasshoff V, whom she married in September 1953.]
