Nellie Ruth Miller was born November 27, 1926, in LeMars, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Erna (Kollatsch) Oetken. She passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020, at the Greenfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, in Greenfield, Iowa, at the age of 93.

Nellie's family moved from LeMars to Greenfield in 1933. She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1944. Nellie worked for Potter and Hagland Grocery Store and Yount Wallpaper and Paint Store. On February 16, 1947, she was united in marriage to Leo Miller in the St. John's Catholic Church in Greenfield. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary since 1951.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Erna McVay Packard, Gacella Richards and Elizabeth Shurson; four brothers-in-law; and nephew, Robert McVay.
