Bill was born the son of Raymond Beran and Gemma "Irene" Claeys on January 14, 1957, in Victor, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm near Victor and educated at HLV schools, where he graduated with the HLV Class of 1975. Following his education, he began farming with his father on the Beran family farm, with the history of the farm dating back to 1876. Bill was united in marriage to Ruth Cleppe at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Victor on August 2, 1980. To this union were born their children, Matt, Ben, Stephanie and Christin. The couple farmed together and were active in the Victor area for twenty-five years together. Bill was very active in many organizations in the Victor community. He loved to coach HLV Junior High boys basketball and many AAU boys and girls basketball teams. He was also a proud member of the Iowa Cattleman's Association and the Iowa Pork Producer's Association. He was active in 4-H at the Iowa County Fair, where he was past Swine Superintendent. The church was very important to him, where he taught Religious Education classes and was a Knights of Columbus member. Bill loved being outside farming the land and raising livestock. He devotedly followed his children's teams and the other local sports teams. Bill loved his family unconditionally and supported all of his children's activities near and far away. He was also an outgoing person who enjoyed helping his friends.
Bill is survived by his wife Ruth of Victor; his children, Matt, Ben, Stephanie, and Christin of Victor; his brothers, Kenneth (Pat) Beran of Derby, Kansas, Dave (JoAnn) Beran of Victor; his sisters, Kathryn (Donald) Brush of Urbandale, Iowa, Berniece (Ronald) Kleppe of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Ruth Ann (Bert)Dieter of Aurora, Illinois. Bill was forty-eight years of age and preceded in death by his father Raymond on August 25, 2003; his mother Irene on June 17, 2000; and his brother Bruce on September 30, 1967.
