Shirley H. Piper Kerr, 70, of Jefferson, died at 7 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2009, in her home.

She was born Saturday, December 16, 1939, in Deemston, a daughter of the late Willis Piper and Mary Belle Colbert Piper.

Mrs. Kerr was a member of Fairall United Methodist Church.

She also was an active member of Women of the Moose 888 of Waynesburg, having held several positions throughout the years. She also enjoyed bowling.

While her health permitted, she drove a school bus for McNelly Transportation in Waynesburg and was a homemaker.

Her husband, George R. "Snoop" Kerr, whom she married May 29, 1971, died November 11, 2008.

Surviving are a daughter and husband, Gwendolyn and Robert Simpson of Jefferson; a son and wife, Jeffrey L. and Carol Kerr of Waynesburg; five grandchildren, Christopher A. Simpson, Gregory R. Kerr, Ryan A. Simpson, Shayna M. Kerr and Rayne A. Simpson; and a brother, Robert Piper of Mansfield, Ohio.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, January 4, with Pastor Daniel Grimes and Pastor Lanfer Simpson officiating. Entombment will be in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township. Women of the Moose 888 of Waynesburg will hold a memorial service at 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to Albert Gallatin Hospice.
