Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, July 10, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville for Juanita M. "Nita" Schlangen, age 71 of Paynesville who passed away on Monday, July 5, 2006 at her home. Reverend Richard Leisen will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home in Paynesville and after 9:30 a.m. on Monday at the church. The St. Louis Catholic Aid Association, Christian Women and St. Catherine's Mission Group will pray a rosary at 6:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home in Paynesville.
Nita was born on July 21, 1934 in Millwood Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Bernard and Rose (Beste) Renneker. She married Daniel H. Schlangen on September 24, 1952 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. They farmed in Lake Henry Township all of their married life. Nita was also employed as a nurse's aid at the Paynesville Community Hospital. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, polka music, taking short trips and especially the farm life and her grand-children. Nita volunteered at the Paynesville Community Center and was a member of St. Louis Parish, Catholic Aid Association, Christian Women and the St. Catherine's Mission Group.
Nita is survived by her husband, Daniel H. of Paynesville; her children, Jane Konz of Clearwater, Dale (Julie) of Lake Henry, Carl of Lake Henry, Gary (Janet) of Belgrade, Kevin of Paynesville, Leo (Marlene) of Monticello and Scott of Lake Henry; 13 grandchildren; one brother, Alcuin (Loretta) of Melrose; three sisters, Bernice (Celestine) Fischbach of Belgrade, Marcella Wochnick of Waite Park and Kathleen (Joe) Herdering of Freeport.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Virgil in 1971 and sister Joyce Boeckermann.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
