From Der Nord Westen, 12 Oct. 1905:
A terrible railroad accident took place Fri. morning in Kiel. Arthur Meiselwitz was driving an ice delivery wagon for Mr. H. Goeres, Jr. As he came from Hinzeville onto Freemont St. and was crossing the tracks at the railroad station, an engine struck the wagon and he was thrown onto the tracks. He died instantly. The buildings at this point are right against the tracks and it's impossible to see an approaching train. It was not a regular engine but a locomotive with several freight cars which had come from the storehouse. The unfortunate man was 30 yrs. old, was well thought of and admired, and is survived by a wife and one child.

Arthur Meiselwitz Chilton Times

Shortly before the noon hour on Friday of last week Arthur Meiselwitz, aged about 30 years, a resident of Kiel was killed by a freight train that was switching in the yards at that place. Meiselwitz had been in the western portion of the village delivering ice and started to drive across the track. A warehouse adjacent to the track near the street obstructed his view and he not suspecting danger drove along. His horse had just crossed the side track when a box car which had been thown in by the switch engine struck the rig. Mr. Meiselwitz was thrown from the wagon and the car passed over him cutting his body in two. He lived but a short time after the accident. The wagon was completely demolished and the horse thrown down and the end of its rail cut off. The unfortunate man leaves a wife and one child. He was a highly respected citizen and his death is deplored by those who knew him.
