Nebraska City News-Press Dec 1924. Dorothy Ruth Scherrer, twelve year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Scherrer of Tecumseh, but former residents of this community, passed away at the community hospital yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock after an illness of several days' duration. Death was due to pneumonia following an operation for appendicitis. Several weeks ago the patient was taken to the hospital and an emergency operation for appendicitis was performed. She was in critical condition for some time and then began to show improvement, and was well on the road to recovery when attacked by pneumonia a few days ago, and failed steadily to the end. She was born near this city, May 17, 1912,and when five years of age her parents moved to Johnson County near Tecumseh. She was very popular in the community where she was reared and has hundreds of friends who will regret to learn of her death. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Scherrer, Tecumseh, two sisters, Mrs. Erwin Dreibus, and Mrs. J.R. Stevenson of this city, and one brother, Harry Scherrer.
