Arthur Gillis Salisbury, 92, Anderson, passed away January 4, 2010 at Countryside Manor, Anderson after an extended illness. He was born April 24, 1917 in Orland, Indiana, and resided in Anderson most of his life.

Arthur served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors after 34 years of service. Arthur was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, was a charter member of Contact Help and was on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity.

Arthur was very active in literacy and also volunteered for Operation Love. He is survived by his wife whom he married December 26, 1971, Mary Shuck Salisbury; daughter, Virginia Steve Procise of Waupun, Wisconsin; son, John Salisbury of Crest Hills, Illinois; step-son, Gene Rita Schildmeier of Anderson; step-daughter, Donna Schildmeier of Noblesville; grandchildren, Shelley Hoernke, Sean Procise and Susan Procise; step-grandchildren, Leigh Ann Schildmeier and Stacey Mark Main; five great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews; and special friends, Sam & Mary Jones of Anderson and Don & Virginia Sussex of Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl & Jeannette G. VanFossen Salisbury; three sisters and two brothers.

Services entrusted to Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson.
