Wladyslaw A. "Walter" Gajda, 76, of 239 Pierremount Avenue, New Britain, died unexpectedly and peacefully at his home. He was the beloved husband for fifty-three years of Dorota (Adamski) Gajda.


Born in Poland, where he worked as a TV/Radio repair technician until 1979 when he immigrated to the US to be reunited with his brother and sisters. He retired from Holo Crome of West Hartford in 1996 when he suffered a heart attack. He loved to read books and had a passion for gardening especially flowers. He was devoted to his immediate family.


In addition to his wife, he leaves a son Stanley Gajda and wife Alexandra of Plainville, two daughters, Anna Zimny of New Britain, and Joanna Nowak and husband Zbigniew of Southington eight grandchildren, Nicole and Emily Gajda, Thomas Zimny, Marcin Zimny and fiancé Mariola Banas, Dorota Zimny-Chaban and husband Ivan, Ewa Zimny and Nicholas and Olivia Nowak, a great-grandson Kyle Kinney, two sisters Louise Strzepek of New Jersey and Valentina Oparowski of MA. He was predeceased by sisters Frances Wojcki, Maria Prokop, and brothers Edward, Casmir, and Stanley Gajda. Dziadzius will be missed forever.


The funeral will be held on Monday at 10:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Southington, to the Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Summer Street, Southington, for a Mass at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
