Gabrielle A. "Gaby" Stein, 82, formerly of New Kensington, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at Applewood Personal Care Home, Brackenridge. Born July 6, 1927, in Paris, France, she was one of five daughters of the late Emmel and Estella Bruchette. Gabrielle emigrated to the United States at the age of 19 and lived in New Kensington for 35 years and Brackenridge for the past five years.

A tailor, she was employed by Yute's Ideal Cleaning in Lower Burrell and Hughes and Hatcher in Monroeville. She enjoyed sewing and was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include her children, Janine M. Kendrick of Morgantown, W.Va., and John E. (Myra) Stein, of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; grandchildren, Thomas J. Kendrick, Matthew Stein and Monica Stein; and her companion of 40 years, John Strapac, of Brackenridge.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Stein, in 1963; and a grandson, Gregory A. Kendrick, in 1994.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral Liturgy outside of Mass at noon Friday at the ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME, New Kensington.

Private burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
