He then attended the Army Candidate School, Depot Division, 1st Corps at Langres from August 1, 1918 to September 30, 1918.
He then served in Company C, 11th U.S. Infantry, 5th Infantry Division from September 30, 1918 to September 2, 1919.
He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on December 10, 1917.
He was promoted to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant on September 25, 1918.
He served overseas from April 12, 1918 to February 24, 1919.
He served in the Meuse-Argonne Campaign in France.
He received his discharge from the Army on September 2, 1919 at Governors Island, New York.
He was originally from Marshalltown, Iowa.
His family was living in Vineland, New Jersey during the period of World War I.
In 1934, he was residing in Albany, New York.
He was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
He started out as a clerk at the B.F. Goodrich Rubber Company, and worked his way up to become a Vice President of Sales.
He was interred in the Gettysburg National Cemetery on September 27, 1965.
