Otto was the youngest child of educator & farmer William H. & Lochie (Butler) Caldwell. He graduated from Athens HS, Concord College & Massey Business College. He was hired as a bank accountant in Anawalt, WV. While there, he met and then married his boss' sister, Olive G. Wyland in Barnesboro, PA on Aug 11, 1926.
After the bank closed during the depression, he was hired in 1931 by Appalachian Power Co. and remained 36 years until retirement. He started as an accounting clerk in Bluefield and moved to Beckley, Charleston, and Roanoke as he progressed through various management positions, including local & district office manager. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Williamson Rd. Kiwanis Club, and the Administrative Management Society. He enjoyed family, gardening & genealogy.
