Mass of the Christian burial
for John L. "Jack" Sporrer of
Glidden will be at 10 a.m.
Saturday, March 8, 2003, at
St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic
Church in Glidden.
Mr. Sporrer, 97, died
Wednesday, March 5, at St. Anthony
Nursing Home in Carroll
where he has lived since 1985.
The Rev. Joseph Dillinger
will celebrate the Mass. Lector
will be Gary Schon. Gift bearers
will be Sheila Loneman,
Amy Thobe, Gail Thobe, Tina
Snyder, Dawn Sporrer and
Sarah Sporrer.
Casket bearers will be Don
Loneman, Mike Cale, Scott
Cale, Al Snyder and Chris Reiling.
Burial will be at the Merle
Hay Memorial Cemetery near
Glidden.
Visitation will begin at 2:30
p.m. and a rosary will be recited
at 3 Friday at the Dahn and
Woodhouse Funeral Home
in Glidden. A Christian wake
service will be held by the parish
at 7 Friday evening at the
funeral home.
A son of Frank Sr. and Mary
(Savbers) Sporrer, he was born
Jan. 16, 1906, at Templeton
and attended school there. He
helped'his father on the farm
until he moved to Carroll in
1942 and worked for the Carroll
Roller Mills.
He was married to Elvira
Reinart Oct. 26, 1942, at Sacred
Heart Catholic Church
in Manning by the Rev. Rotert.
The couple lived in the Carroll
area until 1965 and then
moved to Glidden.
The couple celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary on
Oct. 26,2001.
Mr. Sporrer was a member
of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic
Church.
Survivors include a son,
Romayne Sporrer, of Glidden;
two daughters and their husbands,
Julie and Frank Cale
of Carroll and Geri and Larry
Thobe of Auburn; 10 grandchildren;
12 great-grandchildren;
a sister, Ann Hacker, of
Manning; a daughter-in-law,
Kathy Sporrer, of Glidden; and
two brothers-in-law and their
wives, Melvin and Geri Reinart
of Florida and Leo and Ruth
Reinart of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; his wife, Elvira
Reinart; a daughter, Mary Louise
Sporrer; a son, Paul Sporrer;
a brother, Frank Sporrer
Jr.; and four brothers-in-law:
Hack Hacker, Clarence Reinart,
Hilbert Reinart and Harold
Reinart.
