He was born in Ozone Park, NY on June 16, 1921 to Frank and Anna Twardosz.
Alfred graduated from Saunders High School and was in the U.S. Navy during WWII, after the war Alfred was a Navy Recruiter for twenty years, retiring from the Navy as Chief Petty Officer in 1961. He then worked as an Electrical Technician at Columbia University.
He married Helen Zawacki on May 28, 1951 in St. Casimir's Church; she died in 1989.
Alfred was a member of the Catholic Slovak Club, the Fleet Reserve the Polish Community Center and was a Commentator, Usher, and in the Choir of St. Casimir's Church. He also enjoyed spending his time golfing, fishing, and bowling.
He is survived by his three children Alfred J. Twardosz Jr., Philip J. Twardosz (Michelle), and Cynthia McCarthy (Howard), his three grandchildren Philip Jr., Tara and David Twardosz also survived by his loving companion Jean Noonan. Besides his wife, Helen, he was also predeceased by two brothers Nicholas Krych and Frank Twardosz and one sister Stephanie Dombek.
Visiting hours will be held at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. & 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrtaed on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Casimir's Church.
Interment to follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
