Mrs. Johanna Becker died November 9th

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 11, for Johanna Becker, 88, of Fordyce, at St. John the Baptist Catholic church in Fordyce. Rev. Cyril Werner officiated at the 10:30 a.m. service. Interment was in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Smith Wintz Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Don Becker, Richard Becker and Reinhold Becker, Jr., Dean Wiebelhaus, Darrell Kathol and Larry Lauer.

Mrs. Becker died Thursday, November 9 at the Cedars Nursing Home in Hartington. She had been a resident there for the past five months and had been ailing for about six months.

Johanna Burbach was born July 31, 1879 in Wisconsin, the daughter of Werner Burbach and Christina Vornhagen Burbach. She was married to Joseph Becker, May 13, 1904 at Hartington. They lived most of their life in Cedar county. She was a member of St. John the Baptist church and of the Christian Mothers.

Survivors include: two sons -- Reinhold Becker and Cyril J. Becker, both of Hartington; two daughters -- Mrs. Alfred (Lucina) Blaschke of Yankton, S. D., and Mrs. Don (Loretta) Dorsey of Denver, Colo.; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-five great granchildren, and one brother, Adam Burbach of Hartington.

Her husband preceded her in death in October 1935 and she was also preceded in death by one son.
