Georg Heinrich and his wife, Helene Haverkamp, came to America in 1887 and settled in Trinity Hill, TX. (This is now part of the west side of La Grange.) They moved to Prairie Valley in 1893. They had 3 daughters, Katherine, Karolina and Helene, who were born in Holelucht, Germany. A son, Louis, and a daughter, Alma, were born in Texas.

His death on October 22, 1900 was the first funeral at St. Peter Lutheran church and the first burial at the Prairie Valley cemetery. Even though the land for the cemetery had been donated by Hermann Dietrich Wessels Sr. a year before, a crop of cotton was still growing on the site. A few rows of cotton had to be quickly harvested to prepare a place for his burial. He had died of "congestive malaria".

His parents were Georg Anton Wessels and Margarete Catherine Ruseler. His half brother is Johann Hermann Georg Wessels. Georg Anton passed away in Varel, Germany in 1856.
