Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 17, 2004 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Daniel Mackedanz, age 73, who died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9-10:30 a.m. Monday, at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. The Richmond Knights of Columbus and Roscoe St. Joseph Society will pray at 8:00 p.m.
Danny was born in Pearl Lake, MN to Leo and Gertrude (Hemmesch) Mackedanz. He married Mary Ann Middendorf on September 4, 1950 in St. Agnes Church, Roscoe, MN. Mary Ann died on April 23, 1992. He married Kathleen Rausch on August 27, 1993 in St. Martin, MN. He worked at the Cold Spring Granite Company for 39 years, retiring in 1991. During his retirement he worked several part-time jobs for the Cold Spring Bakery, Cold Spring Super Valu and Cold Spring CarQuest. Danny loved fishing, playing cards, snowmobiling, gambling, partying, pestering people and messing up everyone's hair. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish, St. Joseph Society of Roscoe, Knights of Columbus of Richmond, Moose Lodge of Waite Park and Central MN Koinonia.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; children, Karen (Ron) Leither of Richmond, James (Sandi) of St. Cloud, Jeff (Peg) of Richmond, Audrey (Peter) Magedanz of Richmond, Greg (Doreen) of Luxemberg and Marvin (Holly) of Alexandria; step-children, Sheila (Ron) Mehr, Juanita (Gary) Kaiser, June Rausch and Doug Rausch all of Richmond, Russ Rausch of Paynesville and Scott (Mary) Rausch of Columbia Heights; 24 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Ione (Melvin) Fuchs, Dorothy (Leo) Leyendecker, Dolores (+Art) Schwagel, Janet (Art) Mehr, Irene (+Orlin) Albrecht, Charles (Jeannie) Mackedanz, Ferdinand Mackedanz and Joyce (Andrew) Holthaus.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann; father, Leo and brother, Wilbur.
