Adelia Sievert, 87, of 312 Garden in New Ulm died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato .

Services are 11 a.m. Monday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery .

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and continues 1 hour before the service at the church on Monday.

She is survived by her daughters and sons–in-law, Kathy and Tom West of Minneapolis; Lois & Glenn Bode of New Ulm; son and daughter-in-law, Louis and Sharie Sievert of Two Rivers, Wis.; daughter-in-law Kathryn Tegen and her husband John of Kenosha, Wis.; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; sister Dorothy Nissalke of LaCrescent; and brothers & sister-in-law, Edwin and Arlene Schumacher and George Schumacher all of Houston.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Prof. Erich Sievert on February 1, 1994, son Clarke Sievert on July 22, 1988; sisters, Martha Schumacher, Pauline Haar, Marie Jore and Agnes Jore; and a brother Walter Schumacher.

She was born on September 1, 1913 in Mound Township , Houston County to John and Maria (Wolter) Schumacher. She attended Martin Luther Academy in New Ulm and graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College in 1933. She taught at St. John's in Neillsville , Wis. On August 8, 1939, she married Prof. Erich Sievert in Mound Prairie Township , Houston . In 1948 they moved to New Ulm where her husband accepted a professorship at Dr. Martin Luther College. She was a supervising teacher of student teachers at St. Paul 's Lutheran School in New Ulm. She retired in 1978. She was active in altar guild duties and made quilts for the needy. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

The family prefers memorials be given to the Sievert Scholarship Fund at MLC or to the donor's choice
