Ervin Stueven, 87, Pipestone, died Wednesday, July 5, 2007 at Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 9 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with Rev. Jeffrey Lee officiating.

Casket bearers were Kent Stueven, Kurt Stueven, Willard Bauman, Kenneth Bauman, Kelly Ward and Keith Nettik.

Military honors were provided by Michael Boock American Legion Post #6 and VFW Post #3814.

Interment was in New Woodlawn Cemetery.

Ervin August William Stueven was born to William and Anna (Stueven) Stueven on Sept. 4, 1919 on a farm in Troy Township of Pipestone County where he was raised and attended country school in District #10. Upon completion of his education, he helped his parents farm and also worked at the Farmers' Dairy in Pipestone. On March 11, 1942 he was drafted into the army and served for 44 months as a corporal with the 847th Anti-aircraft Gun Battery on the Island of Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands during WWII. After his discharge from the service on Oct. 30, 1945 he returned to Pipestone and was employed at the Rolf and Walkup Implement Shops.

He married Lois Ward on Dec. 30, 1946 at the parsonage of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone. In 1952, they moved to a house in Sweet Township of Pipestone County where he farmed with his brother Herbert. In 1960, Ervin and Lois moved to a farm in Troy township where they lived for over 35 years. In 1994, they moved to their present home in Sweet Township. During their marriage, Ervin and Lois made two trips to Germany to visit relatives of Ervin's family.

On July 3, 2007 he became a resident of Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone where he was baptized on Sept. 21, 1919 and confirmed on March 25, 1934.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Stueven, Pipestone; five children, Dennis Stueven, Windom; Dallas (Becky) Stueven, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Desmond (Rita) Stueven, Verdi; Desda (Keith) Nettik, Pipestone and Doretta (Douglas) Heidebrink, LeMars, Iowa; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Herbert (Anne) Stueven, Pipestone and Arnold Stueven, Pipestone; and three sisters, Esther (Arnold) Veldhuizen, Pipestone; Lucille (Darrold) Bauman, Ihlen; and Orline (Bill) McFadden, Lake Havasu City, Ariz.

He was preceded death by his parents.
