Geo Kreuter, Board Member 20 Years, Dies
George Kreuter, pioneer resident of the town of Cedarburg, passed away Friday, May 9 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Barelmann. He attained the age of 82 years, and is survived by two daughters and two sons, Ida, Mrs. William Schroeder, Helen, Mrs. Fred Barelmann, and Hugo, town Cedarburg and Carl of Wausau, two sons-in-law, 10 grandchildren, five brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Kreuter was born in the village of Newburg in 1858. On October 9, 1881 he was married to Anna Hofeld also of Newburg who preceded him in death six years ago. In his early days he was a blacksmith, at Decker's Corner, which trade he followed until 1904 when he and his family moved to a farm where they resided until 1922 when they moved to the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Barelmann.
Mr. Kreuter was very active in public life and for many years served on the local school board. For almost 20 years he was a member of the town and county board.
Funeral services were held on Monday, the Rev. Otto of Trinity church of town Jackson officiating.
Out-of-town relatives who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. William Schroeder, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kreuter and daughter, Carla, Wausau, Mrs. Richard Hallock of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Freund of Bloomer, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mog, Mrs. Isabel Mog and family, and Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Kreuter of Plymouth: Mr. and Mrs. George Goodell and family, Mrs. Ernst Kreuter of Sheboygan, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Kreuter of Neenah, Mr. and Mrs. George Kreuter and Lucille of Milwaukee and Mr. and Mrs. Ernst Hiller of Port Washington.
