Buried along with John Herman in unmarked grave next to Carl & Anna "Woppenkamp" Giese.

The green grass at the bottom of the photo with the brown grass at the top shows where John & Catharine are in unmarked graves. This place is where it was passed down from old family members. Marilyn Wessels Dunbar (7 Oct. 2010)

Catharine & John both met at Bockhorn, Friesland, Niedersachsen, Germany and were married on 13 May 1853 she at the age of 29 and he at the age of 35 for both of them this is late in life.
They wasted no time in making of a new family because in March the following year 1854 the first of five daughters Sophie was born. (d 1938). Followed by Hermine 1856 – 1940, Johanna 1861 – 1939, Anna 1863 – 1948, Helena 1865 – 1915 and the only son Diedrich 1868 – 1879. All born in Germany and all died in Texas. Only 24 years after their marriage and only 9 years after the birth of their last child they departed from Bremen Germany in October 1877 aboard the ship Frankfurt to arrive in New Orleans, Louisiana on the 5th day of November 1877.
From New Orleans they made their way to Galveston, Texas and Fayette County. Diedrich the only son died here in 1879 only a little over a year after arriving in Texas. In 1880 the census shows Catharine and John living alone and all the daughters married. With the death of Diedrich the family name also died.
