Local lore indicates that the grave located on the former Muehlenbruch property is that of Friedrich Franz Muehlenbruch, who was probably born in Jordensdorf, Mecklenburg, Germany. By 1839, he was in Missouri, probably living in Bridgeport, Warren County. By 1850, he was living in Washington County, Texas, with his French wife Rosina. Their children were Abram Augustus, Mary Henriette, and John L Muehlenbruch. On 10 December 1850, Friedrich purchased 178 acres in the Alexander McCoy League south of the present town of Burton. He died between 2 January 1868 and 4 August 1869; Rosina and the children sold the property on 1 October 1885.
