Louise Caroline was born on the Rolfsmeyer Family farm, Eidinghausen #33, located two miles northeast of central Eidinghausen, daughter of Friedrich Wilhelm Rolfsmeyer and Anne Marie Christine Charlotte Schlomann. Her first husband, Carl Friedrich Paulsmeyer, with whom she had 4 children (Ernst Heinrich, Friedrich Adolph, Christine Caroline, and Anna Maria Caroline), died in Germany in 1843. She married Friedrich Adolph Stiegmann in 1845, with whom she had 5 children (Christine Friederike, Ernst August, Heinrich Friedrich, William, and Caroline). Friedrich and Caroline Stiegmann and their family emigrated to America in 1854, arriving in New Orleans on November 20th. Her sister Justine and husband Ernst Heinrich Kuse came with them on the same ship. Friedrich and Caroline settled in Montgomery County while Ernst and Justine settled in Franklin County. After Friedrich's death (about 1873), Caroline married the widowed Henry Lichte. On the 1878 plat of Montgomery County, the Lichte farm is identified along the Loutre River about four miles northwest of Big Spring in Sections 23 and 24, comprising about 200 acres. Their children, August and Caroline Lichte Stiegman are living with them on the farm in 1880. After the death of her husband in 1893 Caroline left the farm to live with her children in Americus.

Obituary, Warrenton Herald:

Died at Americus in Montgomery county on last Tuesday, Mrs. Caroline Lichte, aged 83 years. Mrs Lichte was thrice married and is, by her first marriage, the mother of our fellow citizen Fred Paulsmeyer, Mrs Charlotte Leeak and Judge Ernst Paulsmeyer, formerly judge of the county court, now residing at Morrison, Gasconade county. Her second marriage was to F. Stiegmann and of this union three children survive her, namely: August, Henry and Charlotte, all living at Americus. Her third marriage to Mr. Lichte who preceeded her in death some eight years ago, was without children and since his death she had made her home with her son, August, at Americus. She was a kind and true Christian lady a lifelong member of the German Methodist church and a dutiful and loving mother. Her remains were taken to Big Springs, Montgomery county on Wednesday where she was laid to rest to await the ressurection morn. Our sympathies are extended to the bereaved ones in this their sad hour of affliction.
